Study progam
My journalism generation is experiencing the new study program in ICEI. We are the first generation of studients to live so we feel like lab rats. With us you test electives, new obligatory classes and new knowledge in communications. In principle the idea is good but the problem is that we have many subjects. My worst semester was when I had eight courses. Because of this situation, many students have suspended their studies or have abandoned their studies.
For me the new academic curriculum is very ambitious because it wants journalism students to be "integral," which is a good idea but the academic charge is high. So we have few options to specialize in subjects because we have limited free time and train in the real world.
I think study programs should consider thinking about mental health and stress levels. Also, the academic curriculum should not have so many subjects because we would have more free time for ourselves.
Also, I think it is necessary that we have a obligatory class of non-sexist communication and that the different subjects with a gender perspective. In addition, we need more feminism subjects should be included in the academic curriculum.
Finally, I think it's necessary to include popular communication, especially because the Universidad de Chile has an important public role to play.
I agree with you about the class of non sexist comunication, I think that in the near future this classes will apear
